About

Creative leadership, production and the systems that make great work possible.

WHAT I DO

Building culture that thrives through creative storytelling and the architecture that connects brands with consumers.

Dan Desaleux behind the scenes

My career has never followed one straight line.

I’ve worked across design, filmmaking, photography, production and creative leadership, gradually building a skill set that allows me to understand both the idea and what it takes to actually make it happen.

Along the way I’ve been fortunate enough to work with and learn from some brilliant people, from Bruno Maag at Dalton Maag to the late Phil Dickinson, as well as directors, designers, photographers, producers and creatives across different industries. I’ve listened, asked questions and taken something from almost every experience.

I’ve also worked under good managers and bad ones, learning just as much from what I didn’t want to repeat as what I did.

I’m at my best bringing people together. I like building teams, removing the noise around them and giving people the space and confidence to do their best work.

I’m still hands-on with ideas and concept development, but I’m equally comfortable managing the bigger picture, whether that’s budgets, production, process, clients or simply making sure everyone is heading in the same direction.

Today I’m Creative Operations Manager at Acifin, using the experience I’ve built over the last two decades to help shape the agency, its creative output and the way its teams work together.

Ultimately, the thing I still enjoy most is the same thing that got me into this in the first place: working with good people, solving creative problems and making work we’re proud to put our names against.

I’m not particularly interested in creative ego.

I’d rather have an honest conversation, call the “shit or cool” when something needs it, and keep pushing until the work is right.

“Shit or Cool, ALWAYS!”
